A lighting bulb

One of the light bulbs in my chandelier burnt out. So, I have to buy a new one. I've studied the burnt light bulb carefully before I proceed to the convenient store.

The small prints on the burnt light bulb read as follow :-

 "CE Warm White 220-260V ~ 50-50Hz"

I was rather puzzled when I first saw the word "Warm White". My chandelier is yellowish, not white. So, I asked Mr. Google-image. A picture says a thousand words. Warm white does look yellowish.

"Warm White, White and Cool White"

So, it seems to mean colour actually has temperature, right? Okay, this is right. But you do not use the normal thermometer to measure colour temperature. You use a Kelvin scale. So, "k" means "kelvin".

"A Kelvin is a unit of measurement of temperature of light. Below is a diagram showing the difference of cool and warm white by using a Kelvin scale.'"

What does CE stand for?

"CE stands for Conformité Européenne, which is French for "European Conformity." A product in one of the controlled product categories cannot legally be sold in the EU unless it has passed the tests to receive the CE marking."To read more, please click here
